August 2015 – Firenze
Italy, or should I say the no-diet’s land. Visiting Florence with Dibald’s long time frenemy (aka Jade) turned out to be really funny and yummy. Everywhere we looked, something beautiful awaited us, and it was not only gelati
Florence definetely makes your eyes bigger than your stomach, and this does not only apply to food. The architecture is so stunning the entire city should be a museum in which chianti is the currency. And there are so many things to see that your eyes simply get lost (the wine may have a responsibility on that). During our chianti craze, I came face to face with genuine beauty. Looking up, I couldn’t be more moved by the apocalyptic allure of the Duomo, surrounded by all these grey clouds. But entering it was something different. Outside, it was all so worked up and refined, impressive. Inside, and I’m sorry for those who are as we speak waiting on the line to the entrance (losers, pre-buy your tickets online), it was quite empty and sad, just like our bottle of Chianti 40 minutes after opening it
All my life, I’ve been hearing that attractive people are not as beautiful inside as outside, and are in fact stupid (so cliché). My faith in humanity (and beautiful things
) always tried to convince me that this dogma isn’t true, and was invented by witches jealous of princesses. But isn’t my Duomo experience approving it? Is the lack of grey matter inside beauty a real thing, or in that case just due to its architects who were too lazy to finish the Duomo apropriately? Or were they just too drunk?… One will never know, but the one thing we are all sure of, is that all bottles of wine disregarding its appearance or well-aging, have the same power (you know what it is don’t make me say it)
So beautiful or not, never understimate the potential of anyone, and just like you sip your wine, take time to appreciate a person ![]()
